“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
Why did I choose to start with that scriptural quote, many would wonder. Well, it’s because I remember the days I was lost in the world, walking aimlessly and proudly too. The days I thought all I had and needed was my ignorant and naive self, but little did I know there was a messiah who took those stripes on His back so that I could be healed. He got beaten and nailed to the cross so that I could have life and have it so abundantly.
I remember the days I didn’t believe in Him, yet I thought Heaven was meant for all and whatever I did on earth didn’t really matter as long as I was a Christian, but I hate to break your heart; been born into a Christian home doesn’t qualify you as a child of God. You must confess Him as your Lord and Savior and resolve each day for the rest of your life to obeying His commandments.
I remember the days I got in those scandalous outfits and hit the clubs, breaking all protocols and neglecting all family standards, Heaven must have been so disappointed at my naiveness.
Was I too young to grasp the magnitude of my nonchalantness and how much headache I must have been putting my folks through? And what if I knew, will I be bothered? Will I even care??
Quite unfortunately, I’m not sure what my response will be but I remember living with a not giving a f*ck attitude, please excuse my French but that’s exactly how I felt living in a shadow of myself.
Cute little me, you’ll almost just want me in your arms all day like my surname was ‘Teddy’ with a beer and that really got into my head and broke hearts. I really did break hearts.
Benson and Hedges, sophisticated women with cute edges, you can find me all day lost in the mix. I remember. Oh yes, I remember.
My question is, how was my Heavenly Father putting up with that broken and selfish me for so long that He only decided to humble me in 2012, I must have really pissed the angels off, they just couldn’t say nothing because my Creator is indeed patient and merciful.
I remember the days I despised the gospel, now I preach the gospel.
I remember the days I didn’t wanna get married, now I so want to settle down and start a family.
I remember the days I was young, now I’m aging so fast and loosing my A-game, I hope I’m not doing too badly though??
I remember it all; the good, the bad and the ugly. I’ve been terrible but even in the midst of it all, I never doubted the possibilities of being saved. I wanted to be, just didn’t know how. I was too stubborn to accept my reality, I was too lost in a shameless and lonely world.
I remember my dad giving up the ghost at a very tender age. I remember the broken promises, the setbacks, life had me on a roller coaster. I’ve been cheated, mocked, despised, but above all, I’ve been saved.
