“One of our housemaid almost made me a lesbian, always being touchy with my sensitive parts. I never knew what it meant and I never told my parents who would have helped me because they were always there for us but I was very secretive.” – Susanna Olayemi
My name is Ishola Susanna Olayemi, I’m a chorister, a minister of the word in songs, I’m a fashion designer and a tailor, also a graduate. I’m the second and only girl of three children, a native of Kwara state and a citizen of Nigeria.
My family is a sweet family of five; dad, mum and three children. We all are natives of Kwara state. I started my primary education in Ilorin all through to my secondary school as an art student before I gained admission into Obafemi Awolowo University “OAU” to study Linguistics. Graduated in the year 2015 and I served in the year 2016 in Ogun state. I grew up in Ilorin, Kwara state and still in Ilorin till God moves to change my location.
My childhood was pretty awesome, I have the best parents in the world who gave their children a good and godly upbringing. I’m an introvert child, I barely get along with people unlike now. My parents were disciplinarians though but I thanked God for that. As a child, I had so much on my mind always and I never voiced out. One of our housemaid almost made me a lesbian, always being touchy with my sensitive parts. I never knew what it meant and I never told my parents who would have helped me because they were always there for us but I was very secretive. I managed to avoid the lady till she left our home. I became a little drawn to the act which made me a little addicted to pornography. Such a regretful growing life I put myself into, before my uncle made me realize that I shouldn’t just live as a Christian child but to let Jesus be the controller by giving Him my life.
My uncle led me to Christ at the age of 10. I surrendered and decided to be a changed person. It felt so good to have Jesus. As I grew older, the addiction came back to draw me back. I fought with it for years before I rededicated my life to Jesus in the year 2013, in the university. Since then, things changed in my life. I became intentional about my repentance. I wanted to know Jesus more, I wanted to love Him, I wanted to fulfill purpose. Thank God He has been helping me to grow, loving and fearing Him everyday.
The journey hasn’t been easy but it worth it. He loves me so much to die for my redemption and salvation without asking for anything in return. When I was faithful He never backed out nor forsake me. He has been showing to me how wonderful He is in tremendous ways. The more closer I am to Him, the more sweeter and awesome I see my Lord to be, such a great and sweet lover. The best relationship I could ever ask for. He has awaken me to wrongs and right to know the good path. I want nothing more than just to please Him. He gives me His words, He gives me songs with power and I’ve been enjoying my stay in His presence. What a Great God.
You might be going through what I went through or similar or worse but know something that you have a friend who loves you more than anyone in this world, who has never and will never condemn you. All He wants is for you to give Him a chance to show you how much He loves you. Don’t doubt it, don’t let go, you ain’t cheap, you ain’t dirty to Him, you are loved, you are blessed, you are a child of purpose, don’t ignore Him, He wants to make you happy and give you a new life of peace just like He did for me. Jesus loves you dear friend, He wants to be friends with you too. Don’t think twice, tomorrow might be too late. Give Him the chance to clear out your mess and make you a new person of virtue.
