It is a historical FACT that as God's people, we have largely displayed a tendency to run from one extreme to the other.
On the one hand, we can be judgmental and condemnatory, damning everyone to hell for even wearing earrings or for oversleeping. On the other hand, we have the (pseudo)grace enthusiasts bent on 'loving' and 'sainting' everyone irrespective of bold display of sensuality.
However, if one will know what the gospel really is, there is no better place to be instructed than from the very words of the Lord Jesus...
....And Jesus said unto her,
1) Neither do I condemn thee:
2) Go, and sin no more.
Concerning how we represent this gospel that saved us, therefore, we ought to take note.
Once we condemn others and, you know, damn them to hell, THAT IS NOT THE GOSPEL; also should we be unable or unwilling to tell them "stop sinning", only saying "God lavs you" THAT ALSO, IS NOT CHRISTIANITY.
Let's see what the Lord said once more
Afterward, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: SIN NO MORE, LEST A WORSE THING COME UNTO THEE.
The love of God is about turning away from a life of sin, and we on this point, we MUST be CLEAR. You cannot talk about GOD'S LOVE without talking about sins.
1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:11
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
First, love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for CHARITY SHALL COVER THE MULTITUDE OF SINS.
Second, there is a way love affords and extends this covering.
"Judge not. Say nothing. Smile and be friendly. Preach to them 'da gospel' of a God who is not judging anyone, or just let them watch your life"
That CAN NEVER be the love of God. There is a way love COVERS sins. And that is by ADDRESSING it without condemnation.
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him
Let him know, that he which CONVERTETH THE SINNER FROM THE ERROR OF HIS WAY shall save a soul from death, and SHALL HIDE A MULTITUDE OF SINS.
If we cannot say as did the Lord in the course of our interaction with those in need of God's love that "guy, (or) babe, stop sinning"
then, that would NOT be the gospel.
Please, folks, we might be imperfect as men, but let us stay true to what is written, so that God may be true.
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
A true believer who is standing by faith in the grace of God loves the erring with the love of God and judges their error with
They are true to the word of God
They are the ones who say
"Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more".
"By the grace of the Lord Jesus, I do not condemn you,
