“Even though I am from a Christian Home and was introduced to Christ early, I really did not understand or fully grasp the concept of being born again until my lasting encounter at this Youth Camp organized by the Scripture Union (SU) in 1997” - Priscilla
My name is Priscilla Awoseyi aka Priscillasings -a Nigerian Canadian, Christian Recording & Performing Artiste, Wife and Mum of 2.
Being the first out of 5 (twins inclusive) was interesting and somewhat challenging as I had to take care of them all when folks travelled. It indirectly shaped me to a natural leader who automatically takes charge in situations. Also, being a PK (Preachers Kid) exposed me to the knowledge of God and Music early in my childhood.
Growing up was fun and not fun sometimes when I had to wait endlessly for mum/dad after church in the car because they had to attend to people and conduct meetings as Pastors. Notwithstanding, it had its benefit when we got lots of gift from visitors as a PK. (Laughs) It was really exciting as I was allowed to sing in the children choir, then youth choir which laid a good foundation for me musically.
Education wise, I have a diploma in Law and a bachelor degree in Industrial Labor Relations OOU. Nigeria. Also studying Human Resources -NAIT Edmonton and an associate member of the HRIA (Human Resources Institute Alberta) working towards my CPHR.
Even though I am from a Christian Home and was introduced to Christ early, I really did not understand or fully grasp the concept of being born again until my lasting encounter at this Youth Camp organized by the Scripture Union (SU) Lagos (wonder if they still do it.) I normally attend this Christian Club every Sunday way back in Satellite Town via SU. And they organized this camp meeting. It was a very big deal then. I cried profusely any year I was not allowed.
The first year I was permitted to go that was in August 1997, I can never forget. I was overjoyed when my dad gave me the registration fee. (Chuckles)It was packed full of events and that was when I had my encounter. It was a simple gathering that the guest minister spoke and came down to our level and did an altar call for all of us. I could relate with that, and I choose to dedicate that day as when I really had a personal encounter.
I am proud to be an ambassador of Christ even though there have been some tough times, challenging times that would really shake one's faith, but scriptures say "we are more than a conqueror" An ambassador doesn't quit, you keep representing Who called you in service because you have to answer to Him.
Choose who you will follow, for the time is short, no room to play… Choose Life. Jesus is Life... that you might have life abundantly. Shout out to all the Preacher’s Kids doing great things for God. Shalom.
Thanks for letting me share my salvation story.
