“No salvation story is complete without getting more souls saved. God gave me the mandate to raise purpose-driven young adults and that gave birth to DE CHAMPS. We hold annual programmes for Teenagers and those in their early Twenties. We are committed to mentoring young people and empowering their dreams” - Asiwaju
My name is Abayomi Oke but known as Asiwaju. I am the Creative Director of Novent Concept (a Media & Entertainment Outfit in Ota, Ogun State). I am the Founder of DE CHAMPS - A Club for Teens & Tweens; aimed at empowering their dreams and preparing them for a glorious future. I am a professional MC and I love to sing and act. I am also a filmmaker and a promoter of talents.
I am the first born of three sons in my family. I hail from Afon in Imeko-Afon Local Government of Ogun State. I have been living in Ota since 1988. I enjoyed my childhood days. I played a lot and talked a lot. I wasn't a fan of Mathematics and I am still not. My favourite subjects include English, Literature, Government and Home Economics. I used to represent my school in Debate Competition. I have been holding leadership positions right from my elementary school days till tertiary institution. I was the SUG General Secretary of Osun State Polytechnic between 2005 and 2006 and also the President of my Departmental Association during my HND programme at Allover Central Polytechnic. In church, I was the leader of Junior Choir when I was about 12 years. I also held some other leadership positions such as Youth Coordinator, Asst. Coordinator and the Church Training Department. I am currently a Minister in my church where I supervise the Media/Technical Department and the Choir Department. I am also the Vice President of the Youths and Young Adult Affairs of Ogun 10 Province of the RCCG.
I attended Omolabake Nursery/Primary School, Sango Ota and later proceeded to Ansarudeen Comprehensive College, Ota. I wrote my WAEC in my hometown college because my parent relocated there for political reasons. I am a graduate of Business Administration from the Allover Central Polytechnic, Ota. I did my ND programme in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
I got saved in 2001 during a Rehnaird Bonnke crusade in Abeokuta and rededicated my life years later. I do tell people it is not enough to be a Christian by default just because you were born in a Christian home. There is the need for self-discovery and personal interaction with your Maker. I have fallen and I have risen again. I am more committed to service to God now. I have an understanding that if you are busy with the Gospel and committed to populating God's kingdom, you won't be prone to falling into sin. Of course, an idle mind is the devil's workshop.
No salvation story is complete without getting more souls saved. God gave me the mandate to raise purpose-driven young adults and that gave birth to DE CHAMPS. We hold annual programmes for Teenagers and those in their early Twenties. We are committed to mentoring young people and empowering their dreams.
I will like to end on this note that; God didn't promise us a smooth journey in our race as Christians. Therefore, we should take solace in His comforting message in John 16:33. God bless!
